Humble Beginnings & Meet the Cast!

Good evening. I hope you've had a chance to listen to all the available episodes of the show! What do you think? If you like the show, it would be amazing to hear from you--please leave a comment on iTunes or YouTube.

I'd like to give you a quick bit of show background and introduce the talented cast, musicians, and artists. It takes a village!!

Above is the a photo of Brett Stillo and me, Aimee Pavy, at Stookey's Club Moderne about to perform the radio play Poltergeist from the old time radio show Lights Out. This was the start of it all. I loved Old Time Radio, but didn't yet know of Wyllis Cooper and Arch Oboler's show Lights Out until Brett set me on the path. Fully inspired I set out to make my own radio show. Within ten weeks, I had five plays, a willing and awesome cast, and equipment. Throw some foam from Discount Fabrics on the walls of the TV room, a few rugs on the floor, a blanket over the furniture, and voila, the Twelve Chimes recording studio is born!

Hear Brett and I talk about Lights Out, in this brief discussion/episode:

Then there was a discussion, over a cocktail at Stookey's, with, then-stranger, Michael Dern that soon resulted in an amazing logo. Nice work Michael!

And then there was the last piece of the show puzzle, the voice of Twelve Chimes. Brett introduced me to his co-host of the podcast Five Minutes of Trouble, Josh Horowitz. Upon hearing his voice for the first time, it was clear--he's the voice! And although he's located far away in sunny Los Angeles, he has a home studio! A meet up in SF, at the crowded Brandy Ho's and then a cocktail at Specs, resulted in the photo below--pictured below from left to right is Josh, Brett, Audra Wolfmann, Pete Mumford (check out his podcast The Indiana Jones Minute) and me.

So now the cast periodically gets together to "play radio." Pictured in the photo below, from left to right, recording season 1, episode 4, are the fabulous Beth Abdallah, Cameron Eng, Scott Louis, and Crystal Why. I met Crystal and Cameron helping out with the rehearsals of the last (*sob*) Thrillpeddlers' show--I feel incredibly privileged to have had a chance to work with Russell Blackwood and the whole crazy crew. 💔

We recorded the final episode of season 1 at Stookey's Club Moderne with musicians Randy Odell and Kurt Ribak giving the episode a jazzy, beatnik vibe. Below you'll see Audra, me, Scott, Randy, Kurt, and Brett. What a beautiful bar and the crowd was fantastic and loud!

You'll see a name, Dennis Hearne, in the far left corner of the photo above. Any particularly amazing photo is most likely Dennis' work. He has been incredibly generous with his time and talent! Dennis is pictured below between Randy and Kurt after the performance/recording at Stookey's.

Soon after that, we got a chance to do another live show with the Kurt Ribak Trio (Kurt Ribak, Randy Odell, and Tom Griesser) at Bird & Beckett Books and Records. It's a suprisingly amazing venue, it's a bookstore after all! Please check out their calendar. Pictured below are Beth, Aaron Seymour, Tom, me, and Kurt Ribak and below that Beth, Tom, Aaron-cool-cat, and me.

Then comes season 2! A couple new cast members are roped into the group -- meet Beth Damiano and Matthew Nelson. Beth is pictured below doing her acting "thang" in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. And Matt is recording Josh's first script Nutmeg for season 2. In fact two other writers have thrown down for season 2 -- Brett Stillo with the now available 1st episode of season 2, Superstitions, and Beth Abdallah's A Modern Convenience going live in March!

In addition to more music from the Kurt Ribak Trio in season 2, we'll also be featuring music from the spooky Jill Tracy! Her upcoming album was recorded in the famously paranormal town Lily Dale--The Secret Music of Lily Dale.

Now to meet the artists. Jeff Heermann created all the fantastic art for season 1 (pictured below left with his wife Jess. If you didn't guess they are dressed up for Halloween as characters from the eerie film Carnival of Souls)! And there's the talented artist Kirsten Tradowsky (pictured with her wife Domenique, in bunny-tastic Halloween attire) who created the art for season 2, episodes 1 and 2 (Superstitions and Nutmeg)!

Artist Arthur Kay will have work featured early in the coming year -- see him pictured below giving one of his infamous talks at Odd Salon.

Quick acknowledgment of our other cast-members who are also fellows of Odd Salon: Beth and Matthew--fearless and fascinating speakers--I hope someday to be as relaxed onstage as them (pictured below: Beth, Matthew, and me).

And finally a quick shout-out to my nephew Donald (pictured here dressed up as Dean Venture at comic con with The Martian author Andy Weir). Donald has read all my scripts and provided great feedback, thanks D :)

We've got lots and lots of good stories, art, and music coming up in the coming months, so stay tuned!!!!! 💀💙💙
